THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW (LOT)
The Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) is a national network of high school students and MBA professionals who focus on mentoring and student empowerment.The program was first implemented in Louisville in 2000. The Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) initiative provides a forum for area professionals to interact with students who have demonstrated leadership potential but are performing at a marginal level. Through these interactions students are mentored in the best practices of how to succeed scholastically, professionally and socially. The Louisville LOT program hosts 30+ students each school year and partners with the Louisville Education and Employment Program.
The program's overall mission is to expand the cadre of future minority leaders. Specifically, the targeted students are inner-city high school youth with a grade point average between C and C+.
Since September 1991, the Leaders of Tomorrow Program has been an integral part of the NBMBAA's Annual Conference and Exposition. Through the conference National Black MBA Association provides program participants with:
- Exposure to an environment where thousands of minority business professionals come together to develop themselves through networking and socializing;
- A core curriculum of workshops focused on issues they face in preparing for their future;
- On-site mentoring at the conference;
- Scholarships to graduating seniors selected through an essay contest
